After dredging work is completed, the port of Rio Grande will receive larger ships

After dredging work is completed, the port of Rio Grande will receive larger ships

Also according to the note, the handling capacity starts to meet international navigation standards. The port will be able to receive vessels of up to 366 meters, an increase of 29 meters in relation to the previous capacity, of 337 meters.

The state government has pledged to meet the demand from investors for permanent dredging. “We are setting up a term of reference so that, in the first half of next year, we can begin to make an investment of R $ 30 to R $ 40 million per year in dredging in the port, permanently guaranteeing the cargo of ships arriving and leaving the port. RS ”, said the Governor of the State, Eduardo Leite (PSDB), in the note.

Logistic competitiveness

Logistical competitiveness: new investments in the Port of Paranaguá

Projects include expansion of the vehicle yard, the participation of the railway modal and improvements in road accesses

Today, the Port of Paranaguá is considered one of the best public ports in Brazil, strengthened byexport of agro-industry productsof State. “The industries export products such as cellulose, soy bran and oil, sugar, vehicles and containerized products, especially chicken meat and wood. In imports, fertilizers used in agriculture stand out, as well as raw materials for plastic and chemical industries, fuels and vehicle parts”, says João Arthur Mohr, Strategic Affairs manager of the Fiep System.

Investments in land logistics

In recent years, the Port of Paranaguá has taken a leap in performance. In addition to the dredging works, several projects complement the logistical infrastructure. “Currently, 80% of the cargo handled by the port uses trucks. Oneprepared road systemto receive these vehicles, it includes efficient roads, viaducts, avenues in Paranaguá, signage, access points and plenty of space for parking, loading and unloading,” explains Mohr.

In early August, the working group of the State Railway Plan had the first meeting to prepare a plan that willdevelop and expand Paraná's railways, with a direct impact on this export chain. Points such as the privatization of Ferroeste, the sustainable development of transport services by this modal and the construction of an exclusive unloading hopper to receive railway cargo in the Export Corridor are listed. The project benefits the entire logistics chain – ports, operators, transporters – with an increase in unloading capacity and a reduction in costs.

For the population, the immediate improvements generated by this unloading reorganization will be the elimination of road and rail interference, increased safety, fluidity in urban circulation, and the reduction of noise, especially that generated by train horns.

Terminal extensions
